Terms and Conditions
Last Updated: June 29, 2026
1. Introduction
Welcome to Container Store Online (“Company”, “we”, “our”, “us”).
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of our website located at containerstoreonline.com (the “Service”) and apply to all visitors, users, and customers who access or purchase through our platform.
Our Privacy Policy also governs your use of the Service and explains how we collect, safeguard, and disclose information resulting from your use of our website.
By accessing or using our Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy (collectively, the “Agreements”). If you do not agree with these Agreements, please do not use the Service. You may contact us at info@containerstoreonline.com if you have questions or concerns.
2. Eligibility
Our Service is intended for use only by individuals who are at least 18 years of age. By accessing or using the Service, you represent and warrant that you are at least 18 years old and have the full legal authority and capacity to enter into these Terms. If you are under 18, you are not permitted to access or use the Service.
3. Communications
By using our Service, you agree to receive order-related communications, newsletters, marketing materials, and other information we may send. You may opt out of marketing communications at any time by following the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us at info@containerstoreonline.com.
3.1 SMS Messaging
By providing your phone number, you agree to receive order updates and promotional text messages from Container Store Online. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies. We will never share, sell, or rent your personal information to third parties. Reply STOP to cancel or HELP for assistance.
4. Purchases
When making a purchase through the Service, you may be asked to provide information including your name, billing address, shipping address, and payment details.
You represent and warrant that:
- You have the legal right to use any payment method you provide; and
- All information you supply is true, accurate, and complete.
We may use third-party payment processors to facilitate purchases. By submitting your payment information, you authorize us to share it with these processors in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
We reserve the right to refuse or cancel any order at any time, including where product availability, pricing errors, suspected fraud, or unauthorized transactions are involved.
5. Pricing
Container Store Online reserves the right to modify pricing at any time. All price changes take effect immediately upon posting to the website. We are not obligated to honor prices that were listed in error.
6. Refunds, Returns, and Cancellations
6.1 Shipping Containers — 30-Day Money-Back Guarantee
We offer a 30-Day Money-Back Guarantee on all containers we sell, less any applicable inspection, modification, bank, cancellation, trucking, and handling fees.
Pre-delivery cancellations: If you cancel your order before delivery, you will receive a full refund less any applicable inspection, modification, or bank fees, provided you notify us at least 2 business days before your scheduled delivery date. Cancellations with less than 2 business days’ notice may incur a cancellation fee up to the full cost of delivery, as the delivery driver requires advance notice to secure alternative work.
6.2 Container Condition and Inspection
We guarantee all containers sold in Wind and Water Tight (WWT), Cargo Worthy (CW), and IICL condition to be structurally sound and free from leaks upon arrival.
Please inspect your container before the delivery driver leaves your site. If you are arranging pickup, please have your driver inspect the container before leaving the depot.
Shipping containers are used in global logistics and will naturally show dents, scratches, minor rust, and other cosmetic wear — this is considered normal condition and is not cause for a warranty claim. If appearance is a concern, we recommend purchasing new one-trip containers or painting your unit after delivery.
Door adjustments are not covered as a repair issue. Container doors often require alignment adjustments depending on how the unit is situated at your delivery site. We are happy to advise on how to make these adjustments.
Container grades at a glance:
- IICL / Cargo Worthy (CW): Inspected and rated to hold cargo in excess of 40,000 lbs. Suitable for forklift use. Floors are solid and free of holes.
- Wind and Water Tight (WWT): Good storage-grade containers. Not recommended for forklift use as floors may have soft spots, though they remain free of holes.
If your container requires a repair upon delivery, contact us before the driver leaves. We offer the following remedies:
- Repair reimbursement
- On-site repair by our team
- Unit exchange (additional delivery fees apply)
- Full refund less inspection, modification, bank, cancellation, trucking, and handling fees
6.3 Delivery Site Responsibility
You are responsible for ensuring the delivery route and site are suitable for receiving a large, heavy shipping container. Delivery trucks can weigh over 30,000 lbs and measure up to 70 feet in length. If the driver determines the site or route is unsafe, you must provide a suitable alternative. Any charges resulting from an unsuitable site, refused delivery, or a delivery truck becoming stuck are your responsibility.
6.4 Container Parts and Accessories — Returns
We accept returns on unused container parts and accessories within 14 days of delivery. Returned items must be in original, unused condition and original packaging.
- A 20% restocking fee applies to all returned accessories.
- Initial shipping costs are non-refundable.
- Discounted items are not eligible for return.
- Please allow 1–2 weeks for your return to be processed.
We recommend using an insured and trackable shipping service for all returns. We cannot be held responsible for items lost or damaged in return transit and cannot issue a refund without confirmation of receipt.
7. Delivery
Delivery is available for an additional fee and is carried out by independent third-party carriers. You may also arrange to pick up your container directly.
By accepting delivery, you confirm that you have surveyed the delivery route and site and determined they are safe and suitable for a large delivery vehicle. You agree to hold harmless Container Store Online, its employees, and all agents from any liability associated with delivery or pickup.
Any additional charges resulting from delivery complications — including dry runs, detention time, or towing — are your responsibility. We are not liable for delays or losses caused by delivery issues.
8. Taxes and Fees
You are responsible for all taxes, duties, and fees associated with your purchase, including but not limited to sales tax, use tax, VAT, registration fees, and any applicable government charges. You agree to indemnify and hold Container Store Online harmless from any such taxes, penalties, or related charges.
9. Accounts
If you create an account with us, you agree to:
- Provide accurate, current, and complete information;

We reserve the right to terminate accounts, refuse service, remove content, or cancel orders at our sole discretion.

14. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE AND ALL PRODUCTS SOLD ARE PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” BASIS. CONTAINER STORE ONLINE MAKES NO WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.
YOU ASSUME FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE CONDITION OF GOODS PURCHASED. THE COMPANY SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR LOSS OF OR DAMAGE TO PROPERTY STORED IN OR AROUND CONTAINERS, PERSONAL INJURY, DEATH, OR OTHER DIRECT, INDIRECT, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES.
15. Limitation of Liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CONTAINER STORE ONLINE AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, PUNITIVE, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES. WHERE LIABILITY IS FOUND, IT SHALL BE LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT PAID BY YOU FOR THE APPLICABLE PRODUCT OR SERVICE. SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW THESE LIMITATIONS, SO THEY MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
16. Default
An Event of Default occurs if you fail to fulfill any payment or lease obligation, or if insolvency or bankruptcy proceedings are initiated. Upon an Event of Default, we may terminate your lease or purchase agreement and repossess the container without legal process or prior notice. You agree to grant us and our agents access to repossess equipment and waive any related claims for trespass or conversion. You agree to pay all collection, repossession, and attorney’s fees incurred as a result of a default.
17. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA. Any disputes shall be brought exclusively in a court of competent jurisdiction in Riverside County, California.
18. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms at any time by posting the revised version on this page. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms. We recommend reviewing this page periodically.
19. Links to Third-Party Sites
Our Service may contain links to third-party websites. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies, or practices of any third-party sites. We encourage you to review their terms before engaging with them.
20. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, without notice, for any reason, including a breach of these Terms. Upon termination, all provisions that by their nature should survive will continue to apply, including intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitations of liability.
